YouTube Video VVVud0dBczM3Z3ZCRC0taEMtNFAxMmlBLmI0S1Jvel9BTUg4 If you are planning an authentic Alcazaba of Almería tour, getting to explore the Alcazaba Almería complex from its very beginning is an absolute must! This video marks Part 3 of my multi-part travel series exploring this incredible 43,000 square meter fortress—the 2nd largest Moorish stronghold in Andalusia after the Alhambra. Today, we are climbing to the highest point of the complex to step inside the Third Enclosure. Unlike the older parts of the fortress which date back to 955, this massive defensive citadel was added much later by the Catholic Monarchs after the Christian Reconquista. As a solo traveler, entering the Third Enclosure feels like walking into an entirely different world. The delicate Moorish architecture suddenly gives way to heavy, stone Christian castle towers, a central courtyard, and thick battlements designed to withstand heavy artillery. The views from the top of the Keep (Torre del Homenaje) offer a stunning, sweeping panorama over the entire bay of Almería. Thank you so much for following along with this fortress series—make sure to subscribe, check out the full playlist on the channel, and drop a comment letting me know which enclosure was your favorite to see!📸 QUICK TRAVEL TIP: One of the best things about visiting the Alcazaba of Almería is that general admission is completely free for European Union citizens, and only costs a tiny nominal fee (around €1.50) for international visitors, making it one of the most budget-friendly historic sights in southern Spain! Give yourself at least 2 to 3 hours to walk the entire grounds.🏰 GOOD TO KNOW: The climb up to the fortress entrance from the old town can be quite steep, and the stone pathways inside can be slippery and uneven. Wear sturdy walking shoes, bring plenty of water, and protect yourself from the intense Andalusian sun!
