– First and last name
– E-mail address
– Your website address
– A comment you decide to post on our website

When you, as a visitor, leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form (like name, e-mail adress and website url). You can choose to save this personal data to post a comment in the future. Your name and website (optional) will be displayed with your comment, but your e-mail adress will not be visible.

The collected data typically includes the commenter’s IP address, user agent, referrer, and Site URL (along with other information directly provided by the commenter such as their name, username, email address, and the comment itself)

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. Mailing List

If you choose to sign up for the mailing list, we collect your full name and e-mail adress. We will also collect your language preference, based on if you´ve signed up through the English or Dutch site menu.

We collect your personal data to provide, improve, and administer our services. We process your personal data for the purpose of sending our newsletter and/or new blogposts to your e-mail address.

Special and/or sensitive personal data that we process

We do not intend to collect data about website visitors who are younger than 16 years. Unless they have permission from parents or guardians. However, we can not check if a visitor is older than 16. We encourage parents to be involved in the online activities of their children, in order to prevent data about children being collected without parental consent. If you are convinced that we have collected personal information from a minor without this consent, please contact us at splashpacker@gmail.com and we will delete this information.

Automatically collected data

We automatically collect certain information when you visit, use or navigate the services. This information does not reveal your specific identity (like your name or contact information) but may include device and usage information, such as your IP address, browser and device characteristics, operating system, language preferences, referring URL´s, device name, location, country, information about when and how you use our services, and other technical information. This information is primarly needed to maintain the security and operation of our services, and for our internal analytics and reporting purposes.

Automated decision-making

Splashpacker makes decisions based on automated processing on matters that can have (significant) consequences for people. These are decisions that are taken by computer programs or systems, without involving a person (for example, an employee). Splashpacker uses the following computer programs or systems: Mailchimp. Mailchimp registers your personal data if you have given permission to register yourself for the mailing list. E-mail addresses are stored within this system and as soon as a new blog post is available online, Mailchimp automatically sends an e-mail to the e-mail address you provided.

How long we retain personal data

We will only keep your personal data for as long as it necessary for the purposes set out in this privacy statement, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law (such as tax, accounting, or other legal requirements).

When we have no ongoing legitimate business need to process your personal data, we will either delete or anonymize such information, or, if this is not possible (for example because your personal information has been stored in a back-up archives), then we will securely store your personal data and isolate it from any further processing until deletion is possible.

Personal data that is submitted to us in order to be signed up for the mailinglist by MailChimp (for the purpose of sending out our newsletter) will be stored and retained indefinitely, until you indicate that you wish to be removed from the mailing list. In that case your data will immediately be deleted.

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue. For users that register on our website, we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
