YouTube Video VVVud0dBczM3Z3ZCRC0taEMtNFAxMmlBLjVEbWdaMktkNWxv If you are planning an authentic Alcazaba of Almería tour, getting to explore the Alcazaba Almería complex from its very beginning is an absolute must! This video kicks off Part 1 of my new multi-part travel series showcasing this massive historical landmark. Covering more than 43,000 square meters, this spectacular site is the 2nd largest Moorish fortress in all of Andalusia—surpassed only by the famous Alhambra in Granada. Construction on this giant defensive stronghold began all the way back in the year 955 under Caliph Abd al-Rahman III, and today we are stepping inside the historic First Enclosure. As a solo traveler, walking through the First Enclosure is a beautiful surprise. While it once served as a bustling military camp and a safe civilian refuge during times of siege, it has been completely transformed over the centuries into a sprawling, lush garden area. The peaceful water fountains, trimmed hedges, and blooming flowers set against the dramatic, ancient stone battlements make it an unforgettable place to wander. Make sure to subscribe so you don't miss Part 2, where we go deeper into the royal palaces!📸 QUICK TRAVEL TIP: One of the best things about visiting the Alcazaba of Almería is that general admission is completely free for European Union citizens, and only costs a tiny nominal fee (around €1.50) for international visitors, making it one of the most budget-friendly historic sights in southern Spain! Give yourself at least 2 to 3 hours to walk the entire grounds.🏰 GOOD TO KNOW: The climb up to the fortress entrance from the old town can be quite steep, and the stone pathways inside can be slippery and uneven. Wear sturdy walking shoes, bring plenty of water, and protect yourself from the intense Andalusian sun! Drop a comment below if you've ever explored a fortress this massive!#almeria #alcazaba #alcazabadealmeria #andalusia #spaintravel #solotravelspain #almeriaspain #andalucia #moorisharchitecture #historicfortress #castlesofspain #hiddengemsspain #explorespain #travelvlog #splashpacker🎟️ BOOK AN ALMERÍA GUIDED WALKING TOUR:Secure your local guided tickets to explore the rich history, hidden corners, and stories of Almería here.👉 You need to copy and paste this link in your browser:https://www.getyourguide.com/almeria-l32215/almeria-tours-tc1/?partner_id=M5CWGCB&utm_medium=online_publisher&cmp=YouTube(Disclosure: As a GetYourGuide affiliate, I earn a small commission from qualifying purchases at no extra cost to you!
